Dr. Lee (Lee L. Huang, L.Ac.) is a nationally board-certified acupuncturist and is
a licensed acupuncturist in the State of Washington. She received her Master of
Science degree in Acupuncture from Bastyr University, Bothell, Washington, in 2001.
Dr. Lee started Able Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in 2002. Dr. Lee and her family
have lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1995.
Before coming to the United States, Lee Huang was an ophthalmologist (MD) and eye
surgeon at Red Cross Hospital of Yunnan Province in Kunming, China, where she treated
glaucoma and cataracts and repaired retinal detachment. Dr. Lee received her training
in Western medicine at Kunming Medical School, where she graduated in 1985. Subsequently,
she had resident training in the Eye Department at Red Cross hospital in Kunming
and practiced medicine there for more than ten years before moving to the United
States. Dr. Lee once earned the title of Doctor of Excellence of Red Cross Hospital.
Inspired by her grandmother’s stroke rehabilitation and by her husband’s recovery
from tendonitis, both of which were accelerated by acupuncture treatment, Dr. Lee
started her career in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) after she
moved to the United States. This enabled her to combine her background in the practices
of Western and Eastern medicine to achieve the best treatment results for her patients.
Dr. Lee attended the Master of Science program of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal
Medicine at Bastyr University in 1999. After graduating, she returned to Kunming,
China, where, at TCM Hospital, she finished her internship with Professor Zunhui
Guan, one of the most renowned acupuncturists in China. During this internship,
Dr. Lee had opportunities to study and treat patients with many different conditions,
including Bell’s palsy, arthritis, insomnia, lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome,
migraine, and stroke.
In 2002, Dr. Lee started her practice in acupuncture and herbal medicine in Bellevue,
Washington. She moved the practice to Mercer Island in 2006.
In the summer of 2007, Dr. Lee traveled to China for more training. She studied
under Professor Fang Su, a TCM specialist in eye conditions in Yunnan TCM hospital
in Kunming. In this training, Dr. Lee received hands-on practice in treating many
conditions, including dry eyes, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, vitreous
opacities, and retinopathy.
In 2008, Dr. Lee moved Able Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine Clinic to Mercer Island
Primary Care (MIPC). MIPC is a multi-dimensional clinic that provides patients with
traditional Western medicine as well as Integrative Medical Services. After joining
the clinic, Dr. Lee quickly gained trust and respect from her fellow doctors by
successfully treating patients with various health conditions. Today, Dr. Lee continues
to bring patients the highest standard of care, applying unique acupuncture techniques
and Chinese herbal medicine. In 2010, Dr. Lee moved Able Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine
to its current location, above Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic.
With more than twenty years of health care experience, Dr. Lee has successfully
treated a broad variety of conditions. She attributes her gentle, painless, needle
technique to her ten years’ experience as an eye surgeon. Her mission is to provide
the best quality service to patients.
